Do not transfer your domain until 45 days after the anniversary date. If you do, then the year paid to the old registrar will be lost and the registrar does not provide refunds. It is very important that your Admin Contact email address for the domain is valid. Contact your current registrar to make sure your Admin Contact email address is valid. Once a transfer order is submitted to Hosting North America, a confirmation email will be sent to the Admin Contact email address of the domain to be transferred. The confirmation email contains detailed instructions for the Admin contact. This includes a unique URL which displays an option to either accept or decline the transfer. What is the domain redemption period?
The redemption period is a Domain Registry period of up to 30 days. It occurs when a domain name is deleted after having expired unrenewed. Instead of being deleted and returned to the pool of domain names available for registration, the existing registrar keeps a hold of the domain name in what is technically called a Redemption Period. During the 30-day period, the original domain owner is allowed to retrieve the domain name from deletion by contacting the registrar. This process costs an additional fee. The redemption period extends the time available to renew an expired domain names by 30 days. After the 30-day redemption period there is a 5-day penind deletion phase. No one is allowed to renew the domain and it cannot be yet registered until it is returned to the public domain pool. It is strongly recommended that a domain is renewed before the domain is placed in redemption lock. Once in redemption, the zone files for the domain will be automatically removed from the Domain Name Service (DNS) and the associated website, email addresses and other services will cease to work.
